I’m a Licensed Acupuncturist with over a decade of massage therapy experience. A bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in physical therapy. My experience allows me to use both touch and intuition to find the true source of pain — physical or emotional — and help people feel like themselves again.
My treatments combine the psychological, orthopedic, and energetic aspects of healing through Traditional Chinese Medicine. This integrative approach allows for deep, lasting results — not just symptom relief, but full-body balance.
With a foundation in Psychology, Massage Therapy, and Chinese Medicine, I treat the body and mind as one system. Many physical issues carry an emotional component and acknowledging that connection helps my patients heal more completely.
You can think of acupuncture as support for: pain, stress, anxiety, grief, insomnia, depression, digestive issues, immune support, fertility, hormonal balance, and sexual wellness.
When one person feels better, the entire family benefits — and that belief is at the heart of my work.
My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and cared for. Sessions are calm, collaborative, and deeply restorative. I want every patient to walk out feeling lighter, grounded, and empowered in their own healing process.
When you work with me, expect professionalism, compassion, honesty, and results.
Healing should feel good — and it’s my mission to make every visit a pleasant, healing experience from start to finish.

I’m Magin Shumate, Practice Manager at Well In Montclair. I’ve spent over half of my life volunteering in Ghana, tutoring and doing outreach programs in local communities. While there, I was able to spend a year working in a healthcare facility. It was challenging, but satisfying, and where I developed a desire to be in the healthcare system.
I am not only very much a people person, but also enjoy the technical side of the business.
After managerial training I realized that both of these skills can be used in my position at Well in Montclair.
As one of the trained technicians for the aesthetic side of our practice, I also work with clients during the Emsella or Emsculpt therapies.
I want to make sure that every client that comes to our facility has the best care available and the smoothest scheduling and insurance interactions.

As the founding member of Well In Montclair, I wish for the competent care of physical and emotional issues for all members of my community. I want a system of integrative services to enable our members the ability to be heard “well” in all areas of healthcare.
As a team, our mission is to work with members of our wellness community to find ways to heal from issues related to physical impairment, stressor and restrictions that impair them in living optimally. Our goal is to improve healing outcomes; find preventative methods to maintain longevity; enhance the mood of each member; improve overall coping mechanisms, make solid and meaningful connections to others and enhance and improve all physical and connected psychosomatic issues.
I have been a physical therapist for almost 30 years. My early years of patient care were a mixture of neurologic, AIDS/HIV homecare and orthopedic outpatient post-surgical and trauma rehabilitation. I have treated most conditions related to pain – acute and chronic, movement dysfunction and post-surgical issues.
My approach has always been working not just the presenting physical issue, but looking past this to see what other structures may be implicated. Are there past issues, incidents or emotional states that may create roadblocks in the healing process? How can we best support the individual in our journey together? This could be a patient presenting with pain related to a post-surgical orthopedic condition or a postpartum mother with pain related to the delivery of her child. It is always imperative to gather all of the relevant and necessary information to assist the individual in the healing process
I am a women’s health and pelvic floor physical therapist and love working with women of all ages. This is a logical extension of orthopedic care, addressing dysfunction related to all of women’s life phases - the initiation of menses, pregnancy (if one occurs) and menopause. I am able to assess all conditions and determine the type of intervention necessary, providing internal or external manual therapy, education and prescriptive exercise.
I am also a trained life coach here at Well In Montclair. Coaching is a particular passion of mine, as it is a collaborative way to help someone to explore a situation in-depth; solve a problem; navigate communication issues in a relationship positively or gain insight and clarity about current fixed patterns of behavior. We delve in together to redefine how or why an individual is having difficulties resolving a problem.
Issues relating to health questions, stress management, life transition and adjustment, problems in relationship with our children and parenting and communication/partnering disharmony can be issues that we work on in our coaching session.
Collectively, I hope to aid our members in feeling better physically, emotionally and even aesthetically. My intention is to create a space for healing for all ages, genders, and lifestyles. I am proud of our team, their intention and heart. They have a strong commitment to serving all of the members of the Well In Montclair community.
